It’s not the scissors or the bottle that does the work, it’s the hands and the minds that are using them that is the key. Our hair stylists are from all walks of life but have the same passion for hair and the training needed to see their visions come to life.
Jon Rembert
Jon specializes in contemporary haircuts and natural hair color, as well as edgier looks. Influences from his parents, an engineer and interior decorator, gave him the basics for pursuing his passion for styling hair. Form, function and working with his hands have always been a big part of Jon’s life. He started at Cortex™ as an apprentice and has been a part of the staff since 1994.
Brandy Claussen
Brandy has been a professional stylist since 1998. She studied at Vidal Sassoon in London and received extensive training with Toni & Guy and Bumble and Bumble. She joined the staff of the Cortex Hair Studio™ in 2000. Brandy specializes in curly hair of all lengths. Her color forte is natural blonde highlights.
Rachel Ivanowski
Rachel, who joined Cortex™ in 2004 but has been a stylist for over 20 years, has done classical training at Vidal Sassoon and has continued her education with Bumble and Bumble, Aveda, and American Crew. She was also barber trained, has worked as a cutting specialist at multiple hair shows and is skilled in wig refreshment as well as extensions. She is experienced in all hair lengths and textures but really loves working with curly hair and creating dimensions with color. She loves the personal and artistic experience styling hair provides and finds inspiration in the different personalities of her clients.
Olivia Ruck
Olivia, an Atlanta native, attended Toni & Guy Hairdressing Academy, graduating in 2016. During her time there she worked on numerous photo shoots and was published in Lividity Magazine. An avid painter, Olivia has an eye for color. She enjoys color of all types but her passion is in highlights and balayage.
Emma Cooley
Emma is transitioning to the cutting floor as our New Talent. Upon her graduation from the Aveda Institute Atlanta in 2017, Emma became assistant to the owner of Cortex and has been honing her skills ever since. She has taken advanced color and styling classes from Framesi, Oribe, and R+Co. Emma also has a passion for color, and has been attending weekly classes with our Senior Stylists to refine her haircutting skills.
Lyons Parker-Shockley
Lyons has always enjoyed working with his hands. He is both a visual artist and a musician. After working as a college art professor for many years, Lyons decided to enroll at Aveda Institute to pursue his passion for cutting hair. Lyons has been assisting at the studio while taking weekly classes from our Senior Stylist Jon Rembert. He is excited about transitioning to the cutting floor and bringing his artistic eye to all that he does. He is passionate about cutting shorter hairstyles, from traditional to contemporary (or from pixies to men’s cuts) and is looking forward to training on Framesi color to create both natural and creative results.
