Q&A with Tracie Morrison
Question:
Do you specialize in anything? If so, what?
Answer: I don’t really have a specialty, honestly. I try to cover all of the bases. However, I really love period/vintage hairstyles. I volunteer at the Atlanta Opera Hair and Makeup Department to learn new things.
Question:
What are your top 3 products and why?
Answer:
1) B&B Sumotech — I use it on all my male clients. It holds without looking greasy. It can also make hair look thicker.
2) Aveda Confixor — A light conditioning gel that smells fantastic!
3) B&B Hair Powder — I never do updo’s without it. Absorbs oil and can also cover roots in between color touch ups, there are 5 shades.
Question:
With someone who colors their hair red, how do you suggest they manage the color, since red is the hardest to take care of?
Answer: Try not shampooing everyday. If you must, at least rinse really well and use a color safe conditioner. Also use a tinted shampoo and color conditioner twice a week, B&B and Aveda have great color shampoos and conditioners.
Question:
How would you recommend styling straight hair to get volume?
Answer:I start by using a volumizing spray like B&B Thickening spray after thoroughly towel drying wet hair. Comb through, toss hair upside down and aim the blow dryer down the hair shaft on medium heat setting. (Blowing the hair around opens the cuticle causing it to reduce shine and look frizzy) When hair is almost dry, take sections of hair, working from the nape to the top layer around a large round brush aiming air down from roots to ends.
Question:
How would you recommend styling curly hair so it doesn't get frizzy, especially with humid weather approaching?
Answer: Moisture, moisture, moisture! Use a leave in conditioner and curl holding product with an anti-humectant. Take small sections and twist into ropes, let hair dry naturally or diffuse it on a low setting. |
